Vixen has developed a new generation of SX mounts for demanding observers and astrophotographers.
The SXD2 mount comes with the new STAR BOOK TEN control and can be operated both manually and fully by computer. With the same precision stepper motors as the high-end AXD mount, the SXD2 sets a new standard for performance and precision in the Vixen mount family.

Precision stepper motors and micro-step motion control
The heart of the SXD2 mount consists of its precision stepper motors that provide more power and responsiveness than previous models. The micro-step motion control system features a drive mechanism that is both powerful and very quiet, functioning well for both the finest movements and rapid pivots.

Integrated bearings
The bearings of the AD and DEC axes and the worm gears have been significantly improved to reduce the load on the motors. The movement of the motors is thus much quieter than in previous models.

High-precision worm gear
High-precision finishing technologies eliminate errors from the worm gears. The gears of both worm gears and worm gear drives are made particularly smooth, allowing for very high precision.

Declination axis serving as counterweight
The large motor units are integrated into the lower part of the declination axis so that the center of gravity of the SDX2 mount is below the intersection point of the AD and DEC axes. Thus, fewer additional counterweights are required.
