Universal 50mm finder and guiding scope with a focal length of 220mm

Excellent 8x50 finder with removable eyepiece and reticle with adjustable red illumination. The precise helical focusing and the plug-in 1.25-inch / 31.7mm connection, as well as the T2 camera connection thread (M42x0.75mm), allow the necessary autoguiding for long exposure to achieve a pinpoint star image. It can also be used as a mini travel telescope.

High-quality 8x50 finder with adjustable crosshair illumination

The image sharpness and aiming features elevate this finder well above the level of typical 8x50 finders. The visible image is bright and sharp. Additionally, this finder has a very large field of view (FOV) of 6.96 degrees. This makes it much easier to find and adjust objects.

The existing scale markers (step=1 degree) on the reticle provide a good reference for estimating distances, and the open central markers also facilitate precise centering of objects. All objective surfaces are weatherproofed with a multi-coating and ensure a bright image in the finder thanks to high light transmission values.

The adjustable red LED illumination unit is powered by two LR41 button batteries. The main objective and reticle can be focused independently of each other, allowing for perfect focus for your eyes.

Compact tracking unit for autoguiding

One of the main applications of this finder is autoguiding. In this case, the normally larger imaging optics are actively corrected by a smaller guiding telescope equipped with a second tracking camera. This means that mechanical fluctuations in tracking accuracy, which are present in all astronomical telescope mounts, are measured by the tracking camera and compensated accordingly. This is necessary to achieve a pinpoint image of stars on astrophotos during long exposures and to avoid unwanted star trails.

For this purpose, the guiding system is inserted into the existing finder mount of the imaging optics and aligned parallel. If the existing finder mount is not compatible, a suitable finder mount is also provided. Through the 1.25-inch / 31.7 mm connector at the back or the T2 thread (M42x0.75 mm), a tracking camera can then be mounted.

This is securely held by a brass clamp and 3 clamping screws. Please note the necessary backfocus for your tracking camera. The focal plane (backfocus) is located approximately 22mm behind the T2 thread. The sensitive focusing on the guiding star is done via a large, precision-engineered helical focusing wheel.

For easy reproduction of the focus point, it has a white millimeter scale from 0 to 28mm, fixed by laser engraving. Once the tracking camera has been connected directly or via a computer to the telescope mount and the necessary basic settings have been made, the first astrophotos with long exposure can be taken.

Use as a mini travel telescope

This finder and guiding scope can also simply be used as a mini travel telescope. With optional eyepieces, magnifications of 8x to 40x can be achieved.

Almost all eyepieces with a focal length of 5 to 26 mm and a 1.25-inch/31.7 mm connection are suitable. The EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC LER series eyepieces with 52 degrees (Art. 02195xx) and 62 degrees (02196xx) are particularly recommended.

Note: Only straight-through viewing is possible.

Metal finder mount

The mount of this finder and guiding telescope is entirely made of aluminum and provides a stable base. The finder mount is suitable for many common types of telescopes, such as EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC, BRESSER MESSIER, etc.

If the existing finder base is not compatible, a corresponding finder mount is also included. This can be attached to the telescope tube using four M5 screws. The mounting distances of the finder mount are 31.7 mm in both longitudinal and transverse axes.

The six large adjustment screws with non-slip knurling allow for easy alignment of the finder, even with slippery fingers. All adjustment and clamping screws are equipped with plastic tips that effectively prevent scratching the housing and mount of the finder.
