Explore Scientific’s three-element apochromatic refractors with special ED glass offer everything that makes an amateur astronomer’s heart race faster - and at a moderate price. The three-lens construction with special Hoya FCD01-ED glass and two air gaps allows for a correction that is noticeably above the level of the two-element ED apochromats typically found in this price range. 

This superior image quality combined with solid mechanics results in a package that leaves nothing to be desired. Additionally, a field flattener is available as an optional accessory for photography - thus this device is also unrestrictedly usable for photography. The tube length has been optimized so that accessories with critical focal positions can be used. 

In all Explore Scientific ED apochromatic refractors, a triplet objective with air gap and special Hoya FCD-1 glass results in excellent image quality for both visual and photographic use. 

The high-quality HEXAFOC 2.5’’ focuser with 1:10 reduction completes the picture of this perfect device: its large clear aperture of 65 mm means that even in astrophotography with large sensors, no vignetting occurs, which can be the case with smaller diameters.
