The three-lens construction with special Hoya FCD01-ED glass and two air gaps allows for a correction that is markedly above the level of the two-lens ED apochromats typically found in this price category. 

This superior image quality combined with solid mechanics results in a set that leaves nothing to be desired. Additionally, a field flattener is available as an optional accessory for photography - thus this device is also unrestrictedly usable for photography. 

The length of the tube has been optimized so that accessories with critical focal positions can be used. In all ED apochromatic refractors from Explore Scientific, a triplet objective with air gap and special Hoya FCD-1 glass results in excellent image quality for both visual and photographic use.
