With image quality, the brightening of the night sky is the biggest obstacle to observing faint objects beyond the solar system. Due to street lighting and other artificial light sources, the sky in urban areas is no longer truly dark.

The contrast suffers, and thus the perception of deep-sky objects. Depending on the type of celestial object, however, one can filter out some of the annoying light and thus facilitate the observation of the objects.

The CLS FILTER from EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC takes advantage of the fact that artificial light is not evenly distributed across the entire spectrum.

These colors, particularly the typical colors of mercury and those from high-pressure street lighting, are blocked, while the filter allows the emissions from deep-sky objects to pass through.

In a slightly illuminated sky, some relatively bright deep-sky objects are practically invisible with a telescope, for example, the large galaxy M101. By using this filter, your observations will be significantly easier.
