Explore Scientific O-III Nebula Filter (Ø 50.8 mm)
The high-end O-III nebula filter from EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC greatly enhances the observation of faint deep-sky objects
In a nutshell
- High-quality O-III nebula filter from EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC
- Only allows the emission lines of oxygen to pass
- Absorbs all remaining colors and nearly all artificial light
- Individual test report included
- Suitable for all eyepieces Ø 50.8 mm (2")
With image quality, the brightening of the night sky is the biggest obstacle to observing faint objects beyond the solar system. Due to street lighting and other sources of artificial light, the sky in urban areas is no longer truly dark.
The contrast suffers, and thus the perception of deep-sky objects. Depending on the type of celestial object, however, one can filter out some of the bothersome light and thus facilitate the observation of the objects.
The O-III filter from EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC exploits the characteristic of emission nebulae. These objects are bright in certain colors, called emission lines. The emission lines are associated with certain chemical elements, in this case, oxygen.
The O-III nebula filter from EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC thus blocks all other colors (and also nearly all artificial light) and only allows the emission lines of oxygen to pass.
The result is astonishing: suddenly, nebulae are visible in places that appear completely empty without a filter. Under a slightly illuminated sky, the Cirrus Nebula NGC 6992 is for example nearly invisible with a 200 mm telescope.
By using this filter, you can visualize this nebula and its structure without any problem. A must for all amateur astronomers. The nebula filters from EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC come with an individual test report that guarantees the high quality of your filter.
