The telescope's optics:

Based on the principles of the popular Evostar series with ED doublet refractors, Sky-Watcher has developed the all-new Evolux ED series. It has been designed for demanding astrophotographers who want a lightweight telescope with high performance. Of course, the Evolux ED models, with their excellent performance, are also perfectly suited for visual observation.

The Evolux ED telescopes have been developed particularly in important areas such as optics and mechanics to make them perfect for use as a wide-field instrument that can be taken anywhere. The Evolux ED apochromats are the ideal blend of high-quality glasses with very low refractive index and their characteristics. 

The doublet objective has been developed from a perfectly matched combination of optical glasses, including an ED glass element, and provides a perfectly sharp image of the stars against a raven-black background with a highly contrasted sky image, while eliminating visible chromatic aberrations.

All lens elements are coated with the sophisticated Sky-Watcher Metallic High-Transmission Coating (MHTC™), one of the most effective multi-coatings in its class, allowing for light transmission of up to 99.5%. The Evolux-62ED can also be used as a luxury guiding telescope.

The Evolux-62ED comes in a foam-lined aluminum case. It is equipped with a 2.4" dual-speed rack and pinion focuser and a tube clamp with standard Vixen prism rail. The cord cap can be slid off for easy transport. Optionally, there is a 0.9x reducer/flattener with two lenses available for this telescope, which is equipped with an ED lens and comes with a rotator. This gives you an optimized optical system with four lenses, including two ED lenses.
