Sky-Watcher | Evostar 72EDX (OTA)

The Sky-Watcher Evostar 72ED apochromatic doublet benefits from numerous improvements. Discover the new Evostar 72EDX model, the result of several mechanical evolutions. With its new white and green design, it is an excellent instrument for visual observation and astrophotography.

The Sky-Watcher Evostar 72EDX is now equipped with a 2.2" rack and pinion focuser, with a graduated sliding tube, integrated 360° rotator, retractable dew shield, and ergonomic carrying handle.

It retains the excellent f/5.8 optics of its predecessor, incorporating high-end ED glass to reduce chromatic aberrations. For astrophotography, a specially adapted 0.85× focal reducer/field flattener is available as an option (ref. 20258).

The optics provide perfectly pinpoint stars on a deep black and highly contrasted background. All air-to-glass surfaces benefit from Sky-Watcher's Metallic High-Transmission Coating (MHTC), offering light transmission of up to 99.5 %.

Thanks to their design without central obstruction, apochromatic refractors produce extremely sharp and detailed images, with particularly fine diffraction patterns.

For many years, the ED doublets Sky-Watcher Evostar have been favored by astrophotographers for their excellent balance of optical performance, efficiency, and ease of use. Their two-element design also helps reduce weight compared to triplet refractors or other multi-element ED models of comparable diameter.
