This right ascension (A.D.) MicroTrack EQ2 motor with control paddle is designed to compensate for the Earth's rotation. Its speed matches that of the Earth, so stars appear stationary in the telescope's eyepiece. The control paddle allows you to change the speed for centering objects at 2x or 8x sidereal speed. North & South function
