Astrophotography can be practiced in two main ways: with short focal lengths for wide-field shots and photographing large deep-sky objects, and with long focal lengths for all more distant objects.
Our aspherical mirror optics now complement astrophotography techniques. The primary mirror VISAC (= Vixen Sixth-Order Aspheric Cassegrain) is specially designed for astrophotography and provides a perfectly flat image that exhibits pure colors across the entire image format.
Spherical aberration, coma, and field curvature are truly foreign to this instrument. This is due to the three-lens field corrector located in front of the convex secondary mirror. Although the instrument is intended for astrophotography, it can obviously also be used for visual observations.
The open system allows for faster cooling of the optics, making it ready for use more quickly.
