The Advanced Coma-Free ACF Optics

Meade's patented Advanced Coma-Free (ACF) optical design allows for coma-free star images and flatter image fields, which discerning amateur astronomers, astrophotographers, and professional observatories seek. This ACF system also reduces astigmatism and eliminates diffraction spikes.

The glass elements of the primary, secondary, and correcting ACF optics are made in the USA exclusively for Meade.

This telescope is also equipped with ultra-high transmission (UHTC) coatings. UHTC are specialized multi-layer coatings that are precisely designed to enhance the performance of your telescope's optics. You will see brighter star clusters, finer details in nebulae, and additional surface features on planets. On average, across the entire visible spectrum, the total light transmission at the focal plane increases by 15%.

GPS and GoTo

The LX90's electronics include: an advanced AudioStar computer system with a library of over 30,000 objects, multiple guided tours, high-precision pointing capability, and a SmartDrive with permanent periodic error correction. Precise and rapid alignment of stars is achieved almost effortlessly thanks to a built-in 16-channel Sony GPS receiver.

The LX90 GoTo Mount

It is equipped with a solid and stable aluminum dual fork mount, with an adjustable rotation speed of 1.5 to 6.5 degrees per second. The mount and electronics are powered internally by (8) C batteries (user-supplied), allowing the telescope to operate for 60 hours (an optional universal power adapter can be used).
